The Amazons possess a series of factors of tourist interest, among which are:

  • The different manisfestations of indigenous groups represented in the basket weaving craft, pottery, musical and hunting instruments, and typical habitats.
  • The natural tourist attractions of national parks and natural monuments that represent 34% of state territory. The savannah and forest landscapes , the countless rivers of transparent or dark waters, waterfalls, tepuys and hills.
  • Its forests conform what are known as the “Green Lungs of the Earth” and constitute the most prolific reserve of natural resources on Earth.
  • The rainforests, which date back 75 millon years, together with other identical ecosystems that conform the planet’s ecuatorial green belt that runs through Africa and Asia, interact with the polar zones maintaining the planet’s climatic balance.
  • In just 100 km2 of forest there are1500 different species of flower plants and 750 tree species, 400 bird species (1.800 in all the Amazonia), 150 mammal species, 100 reptiles and 50 amphibian species. A true “Garden of Eden”.

The Areas  Under Special Administrative System - ABRAE - which are distributed as follows:Four National Parks:

  • El Yapacana -San Fernando de Atabapo-, Serranía la Neblina -San Carlos de Río Negro-, Duida-Marahuaca in La Esmeralda and Parima-Tapirapecó
  • Five natural Monuments: Tepuy formations (overlaping Bolívar State), Cerro Autana -Puerto Ayacucho-, Piedra del Cocuy -San Carlos de Río Negro-, Piedra de la Tortuga and Piedra Pintada -San Juan de Manapiare-.
  • A Forest Lot, the Parguaza River.
  • A Forest Reserve, the Sipapo.
